as for the 1000W psu he may not need the wattage but to run a 9800GX2 takes a six-pin connector and an eight-pin connector. thats four pci-e connectors that are needed, and usually only very high wattage psu's have enough.

with new GPU come up every 3-6 months...
intel going to have new CPU with new socket...
