Hi
,Is it necessary to make equal partitions of the harddisk. say if i use 80GB, can i make 20-20-40 gb partitions? of it has to be equal size in all partitions? If so why and what effect it will make on HDD if i make 20-20-40? Thanks, uven.

Theat depends on the application for each partition. First an 80gb drive will see about 74gb or so useable drive space available. So you won't see an even 20, 20, 40gb divide there.
For one copy of Windows the first is usually the one used and is a primary not extended type partition. With Linux you can use either an extended or primary type for the root partition and use an extended for the swap used for virtual memory. For dual booting two versions of Windows you would need two primary type partitions while the third can simply be an extended for Linux or storing files. |
