DUAL OS...need to erase

I had 2 OS on 2 different hardrives. 1 had xp and the other vista...i hate vista so i deleted it off that hardrive and then formatted it. Now the problem is when i get boot up, it still gives me the option of which OS i want to choose. How do I erase that choice of vista???

I had a similar problem when I dual booted Linux...

If you put your XP disc in during startup and boot from it, there is an option to repair windows, go into that and when you get to the dos looking part, type 'help' and find the boot loader options

I think that it was called 'fixboot' to take care of that problem but again, just try running the different boot loader options. One of them will take care of it.

hey thanks both ofyou for the help...but now for some reason i have a "1" in the place of where xp used to be..the vista is gone but now theres just a one directing me to xp

You need to edit your c:\boot.ini file to have just one entry. When you run the bootcfg command it will add a new entry to the boot.ini file. Just delete it and you should be okay.

To do so, boot into win xp. Right click on my computer and go to properties. Then click on the Advanced tab and select the start up and recovery button. Click the edit button in the middle of the next window to edit the c:\boot.ini file. Delete the extra entry out.

What were your reasons for not liking Windows Vista?

Well i intentionally got it bcuz of the appearance features on it. What i love about it is the windows defender and the extreme ease of installation. It wasnt great for the programs i used. It'd hang whenever i opened them up. They were audio recording and editing programs but some wouldnt work well vista so i was forced to go back to xp. After they start making the programs vista compatible, i'll go back lol

I probably won't take Windows Vista 64-bit until I want more than 3.25 gigabytes of Random Access Memory. That won't be for a few more years since I am running fine with 2 gigabytes of memory with Windows XP 32-bit.

I have read that Windows Vista 64-bit is a memory hog, so it will likely be have to be quite a memory and system upgrade (probably 6 gigabytes or more of memory).
