Default Back in the day Win 98 Question!

Right, I've got this machine that I thought would be good to use for a cafe POS system, found free software for it and got it all set up (with 98 as I have a spare license for it) but I wanted it secure. So far I've managed to get it so that when you press Esc on the logon screen it won't let you on...however it wont let you on without a domain...and it's not going to be connecting to a domain so does anyone know how I can force it to logon to the local machine? I've tried typing the computer name exactl how it's spelled, in lower case and in upper case and no luck. tried putting the workgroup firs then the machine name but it says invalid parameter which is the "\". So anyone know what to do?
