Default Problem with my Calculator

I thought this is a pretty good forum and since it kinda fits in here with computers etc.

I have a TI-83 Plus and I'm wondering if this calculator is able to plot a graph with a y - intercept and another point ?
Anybody know how ? ;D

Convert it to slope-intercept form and hit the "y=" key, then enter (slope) +/- (y-intercept) and then hit 2nd table to show the graph or you can just hit table to get a table of solutions and answers for the equation...

Could you give me the Key sequences ? you neednt tell me to press alpha and stuff but just how to get into slope and stuff >_>

EDIT:

I'm not talking about a function here btw, the problem would be something like :

Plot the line that intercepts with points (5|10) and (3|7)

Okay if the line contains the points you have there then you would need to convert it into slope-intercept form. Do this by utilizing the slope formula..

m = y2 - y1/x2 - x1

Where m is the slope, so using slope formula on those plots.. The slope would be 3/2 (three-halves).

To determine the y-intercept, the easiest way to understand would be to graph it. Google the formula if you want to use it, I hate it though.

When I graphed my y-intercept was 3

To put this in Slope-Intercept form it's y = 3/2x + 3

So to graph it on your calculator, press the y= button, the type in 3/2x +3. Then press 2nd and then table.

You will then see the graph.....

ha ha, im sure thats what the hw problem was asking, you just did it for him. And i dont think its possible to do that with the 83.

Get an 89 man, it is a beast.

Are you talking about a plot graph?

Yes you can with the 83... I use 84+..... 89 may seem a beast but it cannot be used on Standardized tests nationwide and it is about useless in math like this, TI-89 is a finance calculator....

I really don't know of any other way to do it... I had a friend program my 84+ to do the y-intercept formula, then along came me and Reset it... It wouldn't hurt to learn slope-intercept form anyway... I hope you guys don't mind me asking but, when did you guys learn anything about slope-intercept form? I think I got my first sight of it in 7th grade and use it a lot in college courses.... Slope-intercept form is the basis on which this falls on...
