Default Arctic Freezer 7 and Q6600

Hello all! I plan on overclocking my Q6600, and I'll be cooling it with the Arctic Freezer 7 setup. I have 2 questions:

First off, the Freezer 7 has preapplied thermal paste, will I need to apply thermal paste to the CPU as well?

2nd question is, how much would you all recommend overclocking the Q6600 with the Freezer 7? I'd like to get as much out of it as possible with staying stable of course.

THanks in advance!

it depends. you can clean it off and use arctic silver 5, should drop your temps 2-5C

and depends on what your temps are for overclocking, 65C load is enough.

Tell me how far you get. I'm interested in the Q6600.

Good question. The B3 stepping runs hella hot. If you're unfortunate enough to receive this stepping, you'll need all the help you can get when overclocking. I'm not familiar with the HSF you purchased, but you can probably increase the speeds to at least 3 GHz - regardless of the stepping.

Sometimes scientists make things alot harder than they need to. All they've gotta do is put a big spring on the ground where they think it's gonna land, or send a mission to the moon to erect a sign that says "Welcome to Earth".

Plus, ClubIT sells them for 10 bucks cheaper...

*Edit* AND a $2.99 (shipping) COOLER MASTER Hyper TX2 CPU Cooler! I'd get it from there if I were to get one, which I really want to do.
