I have a fairly new laptop that has Windows Vista I think home on it....and I have been trying to keep my laptop as clean as possible so far that has been going well. But I have been having trouble figuring out how to run defrag off of Vista...I am used to XP far more..and can not figure out how to find very basic things off of Vista just cuz I am new to it...I have been seriously considering picking up a Dummies Guide to Windows Vista some time soon so I can navigate through it smoother.
But yeah any help on this would be awesome. lol sorry if I am sounding a little noobish right now...just when it comes to Vista I don't know a hell of a lot yet since like I said still getting used to the thing but I do realize how dumb this question most come off as. |

I believe Vista runs a defragment utility as a service in the background, so you don't have to initiate it manually.
If else, type defrag into the Start/Search bar and see what comes up. If nothing, I'm right, if something, I'm wrong.

Start>Accessories>System Tools>Defrag will see the drive selected analyzed prior to the actual defragmenation process begin. That shows what the current level of fragmentation is being seen on the drive(s) selected.

Don't you like the Vista styling?
This is one reason why I always prefer the Classic Windows over the gizmo-gimic crap they throw in starting with the XP styling now Vista's layout. I like the Marine Corps's way of "simplify"! ![]()
