Default CPU Selection

I would like to upgrade to a better CPU, I dont know how good of one my system will support though. I currently have a 2.66 GHz Celeron D processor and a 533 Mhz front side bus, could I upgrade to a pentium?

If I can upgrade I dont know about cooling, I have a 6 bay Micro BTX (uBTX) mid-tower case. It has a 120mm variable speed fan in the front that has a shroud on it that fits over the heat sink. I think it has a 95mm variable speed fan in the rear.

Im not sure if I will need more power to, it currently has a 305 watt dual voltage power supply.

I am also planning on upgrading my ram from 512mb to 4gb.

any info would be apreciated.

We would need to know the model of your motherboard.

If your motherboard supports it you can use it.

Get the best you can for that motherboard or get a new one and get a qx6850

I looked up your processor and it's a socket 775 so you have many options.

Download CPUz to find out what motherboard you have.

How would you know it's an LGA775? 2.66Ghz Celeron D's came in both 478 and LGA775.
