I wouldn't be surprised if HP, Dell, Gateway, eMachines, or any other proprietary system saw security measures inplace since they want to be the one to service their own machines. On the older Dells the supplies themselves saw different bolt patterns so you could only buy their replacement supplies.

On a custom build different rules appiy there since you are the one installing the OS with no hidden recovery partition or product codes used. While the XP installer will at times leave small gaps at the front or rear of the primary partition when using the installer to create the primary GParted would see the unallocated space of 1-8mb abd stretch the primary to fill that in. MS had to see improvement there with Vista.

Poorly thought-out propaganda from a mindless Zombie. Steve really is a tool sometimes if you listen to some of the things he says. He reminds me of the manager from the movie Waiting. It's a great thing for him he was friends with Billy back in the day

I could care less if Linux gets banned....it's pretty cool to mess around in and experiment with and all of that...but I'd rather use Windows anyways.

The website does have a few points (about pirating software in Linux). Also I love the last sentence haha.

The last sentence seen in the first article is rather brain dead there. Lack of creativity with an open source OS? That's another lame thought.

Yeah, the problem with piracy doesn't come down to linux, but microsoft. Microsoft has been doing anything in it's power (legal and illegal) to prevent linux from going mainstream and has restricted the use of anti-piracy from being cross-platformed in order to use against linux claiming that they choose to by pass it all together. Gotta love microsoft

All this discussion about Linux and the ranting coming from Microsoft has peaked my curiousity. I am downloading Ubuntu 7.1 right now.

Gee and all this time I was working with Knoppix and Zentoo possibly adding Mandrake or Solaris on a new build here once I manage to get a new 1tb WD drive in. Then a second 500gb sata can be split up. "Where are you puppy? Anyone see Puppy Linux around here somewhere? I seem to have lost that old small distro somewhere."

Ahh, Mac and MS are trying to pull Linux users back to them... If it wasn't for Linux, Microsoft would hardly have an internet backbone...
