Default Sabayon boot?

hi,

I'm rather new to linux, and I don't know much about how it works.

I'm getting this screen (see attachment) when I boot sabayon linux 3.3 live cd. I never got this before I put in my new video card. My guess is I need to type in a runlevel of some sort (my guess is 4?), but I don't know anything about linux commands.

Can someone please help me? Sorry for the poor image quality, but it's still readable.

some linux distros at default display this, i think this is called Verbose mode or some similar thing, but anyways you should enter runlevel 5 not 4, 5 is multi user mode, which will allow you to boot X

and no you're picture is not readable..lol, can't see a damn thing
i think, i think am not sure, you should type "runlevel (number)" or so but if that particular number won't work you can switch runlevels by typing "init (number)"

I've tried everything. runlevel 4 and 5 don't seem to do anything. 6 restarts, 0 shuts down, and I don't know what the hell 1, 2 and 3 do.

I've never had to do this before. Usually, I just pop in the cd, and it boots right into sabayon.

HELP!

after actually typing all those commands did you try typing "startX" ?
probably driver issues with something on your modo, not too sure

No I hadn't. Remember, I don't know anything about linux commands.

I tried it in run levels 3-5, I got this every time (this pic is readable): http://www.freewebs.com/kevinaz/IMAG0001.JPG

Btw, the other pic WAS readable, when I attached it, they shrunk it, and you couldn't see anything. The original image was much bigger.

I'm guessing it's my video card, as it's pretty old. I'm doing this on an old Pentium 3 from my basement, and I wanted sabayon to fool around with.

It gives me a regular mode, a safe mode, and a console mode boot options.

Safe mode gives me the same problem, and I don't think console mode is what I need.

Well...

I looked up my graphics card, it was a matrox mystique, over 12 years old! If I had known it was that old, I wouldn't even have bothered with it. Just for the sake of it, I plugged it into my main computer (see my sig) and it completely screwed up my desktop, wouldn't go higher than 800x600, was herky jerky, by default set up dual monitors (which was a pain to work with, considering I only have 1 monitor...) So in the end, you will soon be able to look on youtube for a video of someone burning a graphics card...
