ok, im making a new build for studying which will be my second computer, should i go for the amd x2 or the Core 2 duo, i will be using vista, 20" widescreen monitor, 2gb DDR2 memory, 500gb hard disk and im not sure which gpu yet. It will be used with vista, music, watching videos and just general use. But what processor should i get for around £80 - £100, i heard that core 2 duo are better but the motherboards look more expensive too me.
thanks

Yeah, Core 2 Duo's are better, look at something like an E6300, I don't know how much they are now, shouldn't be too expensive...

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/130485 for intel
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/128510 for amd Even though the AMD is clocked higher id recommend the intel chip as its is very fast, uses less power, less heat, comes with a heatsink and will overclock nicely

Yeah you can get this for a tenner too: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/105994
It's recommended by many mags including Custom PC, in fact it's their favourite LGA775 air cooler!

I'd recommend AMD, myself.
