Default Asus P5SD2-X processor upgrade.

I am interested in upgrading my processor. I am currently using a p4 3.0ghz and its been running kinda slow. the motherboard has a 800 mhz fsb what would be the fastest chip i could put in there? anyone have any experience with this mother board? thanks.

in only has the SiS 656 shipset so you are stuck in the pentium d catagory, that gives you a max of the pentium D 960

it does indeed support core 2 duo's. I know because I know 2 people with this board one running an e4500 and another running a e2180

sorry mate, you're either mistaken or they are lying to you the only SiS chipsets to support core 2 duo's are the SiS672 range and the SiS671 range
the SiS 656 only support the P4 cpus and hence the P-D's, making the 960 your top choice.

this shows your chipset is SiS656
