Default recovery problem

i have tried 3 times to recover and reformat my hard drive using the boot disks that i made to revover my computer back to factory settings. during the process of copying the files, i get an error msg that says it couldnt copy this file.... program files\hewlett-packard\HP Organize\bin\theme.hp.green1\8x6-fullBG.bmp. numerous files ending in ".bmp' couldnt be copied. i have 8 boot disks and they have no scratches at all. i tried doing it in both of my dvd rw drive and my dvd drive and i get the same problem. im thinking that maybe my hard drive is dead and i should just get a new one and try again. any suggestions?

They where recovery disks that you made? How did you make these disks? I would suggest that you install Windows using a Windows installer CD rather then recovery disks as they sound as though they are corrupt somehow.

Do you think your harddrive could have bad sectors in it?
