I use to be in with this once. Started with CB then purchased a SSB Cobra that worked the 11 metre band, of course it was not legal in the UK to use it
. plus it was amplified from the legal 4 watts to 250 watts. I use to find the highest hill around and talk to friends up to 200 miles but only if the channel was clear. At times atmospheric conditions allowed overseas contact but the channels were in use by many people trying to "CQ CQ DX".
Anyone on legal CB use to be wiped out with channel interference, and the next step for a lot of operators was to gain there licence for Ham radio.
