Default Hooked up PC through Stereo

Wow, what a difference this makes. sound is unbelievable going through my stereo. Question is would a new sound card make the sound even better or not really? All I have is a amd athlon 64 3200 with the onboard sound crap. Already spent enough this weekend on geforce 7600GT and new Ultra xvs 600 psu, so would it be worth it to get an extreme audio or even the cheaper sound blaster audigy se......Mostly for dvd playback, dont do much gaming, so really not interested in spending money on extreme gamer, unless It will make a huge difference...thanks

You would be amazed how much better the sound can be with a great sound card. However, the new motherboards usually have great sound quality already. Onboard is usually enough, but if your onboard does not support surround sound, then it would definately be worthwhile to purchase a card that goes up to Dolby 7.1. I wouldn't spend my money on an extreme audio, because it would only make the sound quality go up slightly. The biggest factor in sound quality is usually not hardware, but the actual sound itself.
