Well according to Apple, Leopard requires at least 512mb of RAM and an 867Mhz G4 or better processor. I have ran it on the minimum specs and it actually runs OK. However, depending on what you do may or may not run that well.

Snow Leopard will kill all support for PPC, and thankfully, no more universal binaries and their OS will lose the bloat from having both codes for each platform.

I suggest you either upgrade to Tiger, or you save your money and apply it towards a new Mac. If you are a student you can qualify for a 10% discount on a new Mac.
