Default New sound card...slight issue

Hey all,

well some of you may know i got a new sound card recently - Aureal Vortex 2 SQ2500 Quad PCI Sound Card.

well after alot of internet searching to get the thing to work when i first installed it its been great so far,Sound quality is much better than onboard.

however i do still have a slight issue with it.

it works fine on everything i do like play games,Listen to music, plays the usual stuff it should exept if i put my computer into Hibernation mode and then start it back up later i get no sound from the card at all.

and therefore i have to restart my pc and it works again

its not realy a big issue but i would prefer not to have to restart my pc everytime because i usualy Hibernate instead of shutting down the pc.

any recomendations appreciated.

tks

Once you are going into hibernation the drivers for the card are being unloaded. That's why you have to reboot in order to see the drivers load up again. Have you tried simply logging off instead of a full restart to see if the driver will reload that way?

I doubt there's much of anything else you can do there. The one thing to try there is review the FaQs section at the manufactuurer's support site to see if there's a setting or patch available. Otherwise you have to put up with the way the software/drivers are written.

I never use the hibernation mode at all. In fact lately I've been annoyed by the screen going black in Vista since something keeps changing the power profie back from the never setting to 20minutes. But that's a display setting issue there. XP sees a black screen when first booting up while the desktop is still there due to the problems with the latest video drivers.
