Default Disk Fragmenter

I recently performed a disk defragment procedure but I can't see any changes (I also unistalled Opera i.e. less files) e.g.

Before Disk defragmenter: Norton Antivirus: System Scan normally took 36 - 50 mins but,
After Disk defragmenter: Norton Antivirus: System Scan now takes 1hr 12 mins

Can anyone tell me the advantages of using/ running Disk defragmenter?

Well if you actually did FRAGMENT your hard drive, that would make sense... lol (it's DEfragment that you want to do, not fragment).

I don't know what it could be, but I would run Ad-aware/Spybot and if you wanted to, download CCleaner (google it) and clean everything up. Then I would DEfragment again and see what happens...

OMG: I just unistalled/ removed 6 pieces of software packages (Opera, Milestone Project, Ericsson Comm Suite, GuySoftware (Plan Bee), and two really crappy graphics packages that I never used and removed some program from Startup menu and loading up was really quick.
