Default Ultra ata - benefits?

Please, please, someone out there help me!
I need to get a new laptop from the insurance company. As everyone knows, they are punks and want to give me some cheesy price for a new laptop. I've seen the laptop I want, which has ultra ata like my old one. Is there enough reason in the idea that I had an ultra ata hard drive before and want the same specs wise? Is there something compatible with ultra ata that's not with serial ata? It was a three-year-old sony, if that helps.

no, ultra ata is a pata, a predecessor of serial ata, but i think they've come out with an updated version.
