Default About installing microphone on windows vista

Hey i have Windows vista Home basic on my laptop and i cant install the microphone i see the microphone in my computer but i cant make it work i tryed 2 microphone to see but still the same then i tryed them on my other computer with windows xp and they work....i dont know whats the problem or i am not doing it right i have no idea can anybody help me and the microphone doesnt come with cd it's just a microphone. Thanks

To me... From what your saying your trying to hard, in the Control Panel go to Microphone in classic view and see whats up. Other than that, I've never seen a microphone that had to be installed.

umm yea that's the same i did but it's not working i tryed to make connection with my other pc to test the microphone but from my other pc the microphone works perfect i can hear it on the laptop but from the laptop to my other pc i cant hear nothing.....i have no idea what's wrong...

I'm not sure about Vista, but in XP you could go to the control panel, click on sound and audio devices and then on voice, configure your microphone there. Sometimes I had to go to control panel/speech option and run the speech recognition option.

1 of those 2 usually fixes any of my mic problems.
Also, click on your speaker icon in your tray and go to options and then on properties, make sure you have a check mark next to your microphone.
