Default Suggestions for my gaming pc

With all the great pc games that are coming out I want a pc that can play them at the highest settings. Right now I just have a laptop but it's not exactly one that can play games and it's starting to slow down on me. So I figured this is the perfect time to build a gaming pc. Since I have never built a computer before, I have come here for help and suggestions. So far I picked these parts from newegg.com:

ASUS P5E LGA 775 Intel X38 ATX Intel Motherboard- $229.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131219

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor- $279.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115017

OCZ Platinum 4GB(4 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Quad Channel Kit Desktop Memory- $141.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227252

XFX PVT88PYDF4 GeForce 8800GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card- $269.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...8800GT%2b512MB

Rosewill RX750-D-B ATX12V v2.2 & EPS12V v2.91 750W Power Supply- $124.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817182069

BenQ FP202W V3 Black 20" 5ms DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 1000:1- $199.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824014146

x2 LITE-ON Black 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM IDE DVD-ROM Drive Model DH-16D2P-08- $35.98 ($17.99 each)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106087

Western Digital Raptor X WD1500AHFD 150GB 10,000 RPM 16MB Cache Serial ATA150 Hard Drive- $184.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136011

Western Digital Caviar SE WD5000AAJS 500GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive- $99.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136178

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16836113168

Logitech G11 Silver & Black USB Standard Gaming Keyboard- $48.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16823126009

Logitech G5 2-Tone 7 Buttons 1 x Wheel USB Laser Mouse- $59.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16826104076

Thermaltake Armor Series VA8003BWS Black Full Tower Case w/ 25CM Fan- $164.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811133021

Microsoft Windows Vista 64-Bit Ultimate for System Builders Single Pack DVD- $179.99

Total: about $2,102.84 (thermal paste included)

I would like to know if all the parts will work with each other. I would also like to hear some suggestions. The highest I'm willing to spend is $2,500 but I would prefer that it cost near $2,000.

Oh, and as for the sound card, I think the motherboard has one included. But if you think I should buy a seperate one, then I'll get it.

Get a better powersupply, Rosewill's are generally regarded as budget units. With that price you can pick up a much better brand PSU. Check out ceewi's PSU list.

maybe this one

MB: get one with P35 chipset, like MSI P35 Platinum or GA-P35-DS4 or ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP
No point using X38 without DDR3 RAM.

Optical drive: get SATA burner + DVD Rom

HDD: Get Seagate 7200.11 500GB. It have 32 MB Cache. Faster than the one you choose.

PSU: OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI 700W Power Supply
CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX 620W Power Supply
PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad

Monitor: SAMSUNG 906BW Black 19" 2 ms (GTG) DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor

You messed up, you listed your monitor twice instead of the GPU.
