i have a laptop with wireless capabilities, but it wont connect to our internet. i know our internet is working because my roommates computers and my other computer all connect to it and get a good signal. this computer for some reason wont connect to it or it says it has a limited connectivity. i got this new laptop from someone and it had like 7 viruses on it that i cleared off and i completely restored it to factory conditions. could there be more viruses in the computer that are preventing it from connecting?

any suggestions? any help? thanks.

Does it have a network key? and did you type it in correctly? Are you sure you're connecting to the correct wireless SSID? Many people don't know how/or forget to change the SSID and there might be like 3 linksys connections be each are different sources. Also you might need to update the drivers?

our connection was set to be a computer-to-computer connection on this computer instead of what it was supposed to be. its fixed now (hopefully). thank you for your help

if wireless have security then check it bcz if you supplay wrong key for yours laptop also will show like connected. just double click on the network icon on the bottom bar then if there is any problem in the network it will not receive any packets, it will be on way. if like this just rest the key with correct spell and case
