You don't have to be 18 for a debit. You gotta be 18 for a credit or master card etc.

Yeah, actually I have 2. One through my paypal account.
Another through my local bank. I have a joint account with my dad, but he never uses it, just his name is on there the age 18 requirement is fulfilled. His names aren't on my checks or debit card, though.

The reason you can't get a checking account (and thus a debit card) under 18 is because you can't have credit under 18. With a cheking account, if a check goes into overdraft (non-sufficient funds in the account, but doesn't bounce; my overdraft limit is $200, so if I have $50 in my checking account and write a check for $100, I go into overdraft and my account balance shows -$50. If I write a check for $300, the check bounces and no money is withdrawn from my account) if it isn't paid off in like 10 days then it goes against your credit score. You can still have a custodial account, where someone who is 18 or older is on the account and thus it's their credit on the line.
