Default Hopefully this software exists

Hi guys, this is my first post. I hope to receive some helpful advice, unfortunately I probably won’t be able to reciprocate due to me not knowing anything.

Here are my two problems:
I have music all over my hard drive in different folders and with different extensions (I Tunes ext., mp3 ext., wav ext., etc.) I want to find a program that will scour my entire hard drive and find every one of my songs and copy them into a single folder. Then I want to find a way to change all of their file type extensions to something universal, like mp3. I’m not even sure if I can do this with some of the file extensions (ITunes and their pesky DRM crap)

Any suggestions are very much appreciated. The guys at two Geek Squad Best Buys stores couldn’t help me.

I know with iTunes it will search your comp and can back up it all into on folder. Converting it is another story

yeah go with itunes. but you may need to go to: edit->preferences->advanced->"copy files to itunes music folder..." and click the box.

now when it adds everything it will all be copied into the itunes folder as motoxrdude said. and then you can delete it from all over your hard drive so its all organised.

before you add the songs go to
itunes->edit->preferences->advanced->importing

there you can choose what all the songs are converted to when they are imported.

If you are using Mac OS X, you might be able to do it with Automator too, but i'm not sure.
