comparing computer brands

I'm shopping for a new desktop computer (maybe laptop)... i just wanted your guys opinion. How would you rank this list, and why? ("1" being best. "7" being worst)

1. Acer
2. Compaq
3. Dell
4. E-Machines
5. HP
6. Toshiba
7. Gateway

It will solely depends on how you use the PC for.
If you just use for word processing, surfing web, watch video. There will not be major different.
But if you use for gamming, that will be another story.

it'd be for gaming. in my opinion, i'd rank like this:

1. Gateway
2. HP
3. Dell
4. Toshiba
5. Acer
6. Compaq
7. E-Machines

If you talking about gamming, the most important thing you need to cosider is graphic card...
I will only choose customize PC....
Anyway, Do Toshiba have desktop? I haven't seen it before.
