Default Good audio interface device?

Im looking for a decently priced (<$300) audio interface device for digital recording but there are so many options out there I thought I would ask if anyone here has used one.

Im lookin on the Sweetwater website for reference...

Basically I want to be able to do recording using either Cool Edit 2.1 or Cubase LE and want an interface that either has built in effects or comes with software for effects plugins.

I was considering a Line 6 Guitarport (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/GuitarPort/) but it almost seems those might be on the low end of things, so is that a good choice or no?
