Default outlook

im trying to change an outlook email account from outlook 97 to outlook 2007 on a different computer. i managed to get the incoming server configured but it wont send anything, i get the error messege:

"non of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by your server"

i went to the microsoft site and entered the extra details for the outgoing server but it didnt work.

call your ISP and make sure their server side is compatible with 2007

so if it was them not being compatible would installing an older version of outlook work? like outlook xp.

It sounds like you have not configured your outgoing server to use authentication. You have to go to the accounts page for the particular account and click on More Settings. One of the tabs is marked authentication. Tick the box that says "My outgoing server requires authentication. OK your way out. This should solve your problem.
