In short, if it's a pre-built computer from a retail manufacturer, then you are out of luck.

True But some prebuilts can get OCing abilities by resetting CMOS... (since manufacturers block it)...

And some might be able to get over it with a CMOS flash... Who knows?

Resetting the BIOS does absolutely nothing other then revert everything back to defaults, are you sure you're not talking about re-flashing the BIOS with a hacked BIOS?

No, before I'm 100% sure that someone posted on CF saying that sometimes manufacturers block the OC option out, but you un-block it by resetting the BIOS.

Well that "someone" doesn't know what he's talking about. He is right in saying that the manufacturer does lock out any overclocking abilities and advanced tweaking options, but "resetting" is the wrong word. Resetting it by clearing the jumper or other means will just revert everything to defaults, but will NOT unlock any options.

HAHAHAHA you guys are funny. Yea, reseting wont do squat. If you want to over clock some ghetto retail dell for $300 you better be an electrical engineer cuase the only way you will overclock it, if by manually reprogramming the chips. My friend had this niffy piece of hardware where you can take any chip and actully reprogram it. Hot stuff, he 2 smart for himself. this kid creates 1 inch lcd tvs in his room.. prgrams them and pics up tv stations... lol

You can re-program your own BIOS using a few programs, although they only work on certain BIOS's.
