Exclamation Protection

Alright.
My computer was running sluggish today, so I decided to run an Ad-Aware scan and a Spy Bot scan, so I leave my computer for about a half hour, and I come back and Avast! says I have a virus. Now, in the past week, I haven't downloaded anything extravagant or untrusted. So, I may go to the store and buy some virus protection thats on sale. Since, I am using Avast! Free Edition, and its not working, it keeps telling to register, and its out of date, but its the free edition.

So, besides protection, what can I buy, that scans and deletes unwanted things.

Thanks.

Why spend money on anti virus progz when you can have them for free...

Download "AVG antivirus". Its free and its conciderably better then most others including the ones that cost $$$

What is the name of the virus?

Just because you have one on your computer doesn't mean you should go out and buy an expensive program. Are you sure you even had real-time monitoring enabled and up-to-date? Before buying anything I would also try AVG Free Edition.

If you are considering purchasing one though then go for Kaspersky, in multiple tests its generally always come out with the best detection rates out of all of the anti-virus programs.

One of the reviews I have seen had Kaspersky with a 98% detection rate against AVG free which was 83%

Out of the free ones it was Avira that came out on top with 92% but they did report that it does tend to pester you to upgrade to their premium package.....

I've been using it a while and the pestering ain't really anything, jus everytime it updates, which is about once a day or every other day, a popup comes up after its finished with the updates tryin to convince u to upgrade, its nothing major. Yeh i would go with avira antivir, its probably the best i've used.
