Default Laptop Vista issues

HP Pavillion DV9000
Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit

Problem/Issue -
Althought I can still connect to the internet using my wireless router, I have the two small computer icons at the bottom of the screen with a red X through them. Upon hovering my mouse over those computer, it says in faded letters "Connection status: unknown" and under that says "Server execution failed". This has been going on for roughly 4 days.

I didn't have any restore points to try and to a system restore.

AVG Anti-Virus turns out User32.dll, Shell32.dll, and ntoskml.dll all with result/infection as "change". I had a trojan that I removed as well.

I have an HP recovery partition but do not know how to use it. I never recieved a Vista cd to reformat.

Also, the sound on my computer does not work, and video is very slow. With no process's running, I pop in any DVD - I open up using any player, and not only does no sound come out (nothing is on mute or low), but the video also is shuttery. About every 2 seconds it stops, then starts, like it's getting stuck.

I was sitting on the john about 5 days ago and my computer randomly just made the loudest beeping noise. I couldnt turn it off and tryed to take the battery out etc. etc. and finally it turned off.

Can anyone recommend any steps to make everything run smoother again? Thanks so much!
