Default I tried this

a prank came into my mind and i did this:

i created a new folder...renamed it with the null value (ALT + 255)...

now it is undeletable...no errors..nothing happens!!! it is still there!!

any reasons and suggestions to solve this?


i tried it on vista..i dont know if this will work on xp!

Well I'm going to assume you're using Windows XP or older because I just tried this in Vista Home Premium and it behaved just like a normal folder.

Can you still rename it? If so, just name it something normal and delete it. Otherwise I know there are programs that helps you delete 'hard to delete' folders. Let me know if you have any trouble finding them.

i am sorry for not putting a reply because i was unable to login here.....i dont know why but this happens many a times!!!


regarding my question, i have vista ultimate!! also i looked for the tools to delete hard files and folder but in vein....

You haven't disabled windows updates, have you? I don't see why there would be a problem in Ultimate if it worked fine in Home Premium.

try renaming it through console

ren [alt + 255] [some name]

renaming through console didnt work either....we cant rename it!!!

and i have my updates disabled and i guess it got nothing to do with it either.....
checking out the utility!!

i go with kuzba, it didnt work in xp...but however it worked in previous version of windows where we were also unable to access the contents of the folder..!
