Default Limewire's detecting a firewall...but I can't find it!??

Hello all,

Limewire has recently started showing a low signal strength and will not run. The searches take forever and nothing shows up. I have done the changes through Norton per intructions and I think I did them right through Windows but it normally stays shut off with Norton running. I have even briefly shut down both Norton and Windows firewalls and Limewire still doesn't work. The only thing I have done in the past week is try my hand at burning CD's but all I did was make a burn list on Windows Media player without actually burning the CD yet. I just want my Limewire back!

Thanks in advance

I had that problem awhile ago but I don't remember how I fixed it. I would suggest uninstalling it completely then redownloading it and starting over. That should fix it. Just back up all your files first so you don't lose them.

Do you have a router or modem that may have a firewall?

If you do have a hardware firewall (such as a router with built in firewall) and more then one computer is connected to it, it could be possible that someone else has changed the firewall settings in the router from their computer. Or if your computer's IP address is not static it may have changed and therefor you would have to reopen any ports using the new IP address of your computer.

I had the same problem recently.
That did it.

a firewall is like a gate. it keeps the bad people out and the dog in but it's not fool proof. but lets say you download and run an infected program. that will be like letting in a "friend." if it's infected you run that program you can get malware. that's like a friend raping your family and stealing your money.
