Default Majoe sound distortion?

I just got a pair of headsets... Microsoft lifechat lx 3000. I installed the software and plugged in my usb headsets. Now when i play any sound from my pc the sound is EXTREMELY distorted and fuzzy. Thinking it was my headsets i went out to buy another pair. Same thing happened. Anyone? I've tryed all my usb ports with the same results. Im running windows vista x64. Says on the microsoft website that those headsets supports vista x64.
