Default Ultraportable laptop

My friend's mom wants an ultraportable laptop... I don't know a whole lot about laptops, neither do I about moms... but that is another story.

So, her needs are very basic. Accessing the internet wirelessly, doing emails, doing basic word-like, excel-like documents, surfing the internet and being able to install some chinese caracter program ?

Anyway, I found this computer which seems quite interesting, I'd like your opinion about it:
Asus Eee PC 4G or this one which has twice the HDD(still quite small tho): Asus Eee PC 8G

I know the HDD on those laptops is tiny, but I figure that she won't need a whole lot and if she needs more, she can always store on either an external HDD or a USB key. What do you think of those, do you have any recommendations to buy or not to buy... And do you have any other suggestions ?

Thanks a lot

I am not so sure business laptops are ultraportable, maybe they are light and thin portable, but not ultraportable to the point where one can just put it in her purse, that is what I'm looking for.

That just means they some form of Celeron or Pentium M powering them. As for resolution, keep in mind that it's only a 7" screen Should be fine on that size.

I'll admit, that's a very small laptop! Has her friend considered looking into the multi-function cell phones? You know the ones - they're a bit bigger and have a keyboard that flips down. They were very popular a few years back when they first became somewhat-mainstream. All major cell phone companies carry some models. Might be worth checking out to see it they could be considered.

Plum, we're talking about a whole different realm of machines here. Business laptops are lightweight, what the OP needs is about 1/3 the size of your standard laptop.
