Here's a tip for those running the Creative X-Fi lineup of sound cards and putting up with a persistant buzzing or humming sound while no signal is being input from an external like using a tv tuner card as one example. The question has been posed by many running the Xtreme Audio ,Music, and Gamer models.
Upon examination and testing this out by disabling the various items found in the Creative sound mixer not one item saw any effect on reducing the constant annoyance. By going through each section what did see results was simply switching off the Smart Volume Management feature included with the Creative software mainly seen in the Entertainment mode as a on or off check box. The creation and gamer modes see a simple enable SM there. The typical annoying sound is like an old guitar or stereo amplifier with the volume turned up high with no signal source. Apparently that's Creative own software gllitch found there.
