1) Download the .iso file here
2) Burn the image to a disk. I use Nero, and you are burning an Image, not a Data CD (I use CD-R; I have never used CD-RW, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.) 3) When the disk is burned, reboot your computer and boot from the CD Drive (You may need to change the boot order in the BIOS. You will boot into the LiveCD Environment. When you want to install Ubuntu, double-click on the Install icon that is on the Ubuntu LiveCD Desktop. Follow the installation screens, and your next reboot should be into Ubuntu.

Ok i have windows xp and a dell lititude d600 laptop, I burned the .iso file with the default windows burner onto the cd, i put the cd into my laptop restart it.
Nothing I restart it booting from the cd drive. Nothing Im fully baffled and type this message |

I had this same problem. I unplugged my hard drive, but I'm assuming you can't do that.

But why wont it boot from the cd drive? i just want to try linux and its been 3 weeks and i dont no how
![]() Maby i should take a plan to the linux factory and walk into the lobby and start crying untill somebody helps me |
