I've always wondered how this works. On all newer motherboards they feature 6-channel or 8-channel audio usually. You know, all the audio jacks on the back look like this, right?

Okay, in my room I've got a 5.1 Channel Phillips Surround Sound system. It has an auxiliary jack with an RCA cable coming out of it like this one:

I would like to plug the end of this cord into the back of my PC and get surround sound from my system. The only issue with this though, is that I don't get surround sound, because I'm only plugging in one cord to one port, but that's all that my receiver offers; only one auxiliary cable. So am I doing something wrong, or is my receiver just not capable of offering external surround sound? Like, when I plug in my auxiliary cord to my system, 5 ports are left on the back of the motherboard and I only have 2 channel-audio.

Am I making any sense? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
