Question Compiz Fusion - Unbuntu, Lunix or Beryl?

http://wiki.compiz-fusion.org/Get_Compiz_Fusion

Hey,

I saw this video on YouTube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZD7QraljRfM

Thought it looked really awesome!

I have a laptop, far from great!

The Specs are;

Intel Celeron @ 1.3Ghz
368MB of RAM
Onboard Video: SiS 630

Would that be Ok?

What would I need and how would I install it, I just want to have a mess around

Also, How do you install things on Beryl and the like?

Thanks!

OMG, kornowski is new to Linux
to install anything on linux just go to
System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager (ubuntu)
to enable other repo's which may include Beryl or Compiz open Synaptic and select an option in its menubar: Settings -> Repositories.
Now just click reload and let the repos update.
After that just do a search for beryl or Compiz.
Correct me where am wrong but there's an ubuntu version which comes with Desktops effects by default , i think 7.10 right ? not too sure

about your laptop, i don't think the ram is enough in my opinion
edit : download an ubuntu iso , burn it to disk and boot from it. it's live

lol, Erm, Yeah, a little confusing...

So what would I need exactly to run that Compiz thing, Beryl?

Do you have any links to all the things I would need please? I already have Nero so I can burn the ISO

Also, do you think the laptop will be Ok?

i my personal opinion it (the laptop) will drag
since i just installed ubuntu 7.04 about 15 mins ago check the screen.
i've already put the restricted drivers in use (Nvidia--> go to->system->administration->restricted drivers manager)

if your card is supported you will get effects but not with the styles and colors for this you need bery
i did a saerch for beryl (with updated repo) and am gonna install it now see i mage
