Default Weird repetative problem...

I have a series of problems in which i THINK is software. I built a pc about a month ago.

ECS GeForce 6100sm Mainboard.
AMD 5600+ dual core processor.
2gb Kingston DDR2 667 SD ram PC2 5300
Maxtor 160gb SATA Master HD (partitioned)
Maxtor 40gb IDE Slave HD
GeForce 8600gt 256mb, 128 bit PCIE graphics
Raidmax 450w Power Supply
Raidmax Gaming case (3 case fans)
Windows XP Pro x64 edition

and what it does is causes some type of error during use, Once it was the LAN disabled once the vid card and this time it just froze .But it makes me restart and when it goes to re boot Windows it gets to the Windows XP screen... And then restarts back to BIOS over and over. and forces me to reinstall Windows which i have done 3 times. It will work for a week or so then do it again. Also EVERYTIME the computer reboots...in bios it resets my cpu frequency. And it seems that most the time i try to read/write to my slave the whole comp locks up solid...n i have to power off. Right now upon starting it it gives me the message "ntldr file is missing. press ctrl. alt .del to restart. Any help would be of great appreciation!

Where did you obtain your Copy of Windows? Legit channels?

It appears that the OS itself is not installing correctly, or, if obtained through non-legit channels, has some bad mojo mixed in with it Missing files out of the blue is a sure sign.

It could be your HDD, though. Were they both purchased new? Any clicking noises? Ever drop or expose either to temp extremes?

When you say you reinstalled Windows 3 times now, did you format each time?

How do you have your drives laid out? OS on one, personal files on another? I'd do this: Move all personal files to the slave, then remove the slave from your system. Hook it up to a working system. WITHOUT accessing the slave drive, right-click on it in the My Computer area and Scan it for viruses. After that, defragment, cleanup, checkdisk. If all goes well, your Slave drive will be fine.

Now is when I'd reformat/reinstall XP on the Master HDD in your system. Do it without the Slave attached. After the format/install, make sure everything is updated and you have virus protection running. Shut down and install the slave. Move all your personal files from the slave to the Master so you have a backup, then format the Slave via Windows (My Computer, right click Slave, Format, etc.). Drink a coke, have a snack. Now, the last step...move all your personal files back to the Slave drive so you have a backup. Surefire way to wipe any trace of any bad mojo and start with 'fresh' drives.

ok i formatted the windows partition of the drive. and then installed a fresh copy of xp pro x64. took a few attempts for it to install properly and then the computer ran fine through installing all my missing drivers and setting things up. i restarted to complete the install on my webcam and when it went to re boot i got the same message NTLDR is missing press ctrl-alt-del to restart. when i boot from cd it will not let me access the recovery console it simply gives me a C:\Windows command prompt after entering password. i cant log back onto windows. im really lost in the dark here guys and i cant afford the 75 bucks an hour for a repairman lol
