You can certainly run all the latest games but dont expect to be able to crank the AA/AF to the max though

That is the same videocard that I have, and I must say it works well enough. I play Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 and have them both set to almost the highest quality....the only reason it is not all of the way, is because I only have 768 MB of RAM.

Well Doom3 isnt dependent onthe amount of memory you have as Anand has shown us (testing 256MB to 1GB) .... but rather the video system .... so you played Doom3 @ Ultra at what resolution?

No, it isn't at ultra, the setting below that, and I forget the resolution, but I will have to change that anyway as I just got a 19" monitor, which is a big change from a 15".

sorry Praetor whats "AA/AF" i am not just familiar with it :-)

so really is it actually worth buying X800 (256mb) series over 9800 256mb when it pretty much does the same job?

Depends on the budget and intent as the price jumps is significant. The X800 series is significantly improved over the 9800 line

You could always go for the X850.....although it would cost a lot of money, it would satisfy your gaming needs for a long while.
