id sacrifice the new monitor for a new processor, hands down.

yeah i would say go with a new processor too. why do you want dual screens?
you would benefit more from a decent cpu.

all the other stuff your getting seems ok, but i would say either keep your current screen or sell it and use the money to go towards a cpu.

Current monitor is a vga, just wanted the quality of dvi. Dual screens just because its cool, I don't really play games that require ultimate things like crysis. And my budget is lower then $610 but thats all i could find that was cheap.

ok well it just seemed silly to be splashing out on dual monitors when your cpu was, imo the weakest part of your system. ]

why not buy the new monitor so you have the quality and then sell your old one to fund a cpu upgrade. i really think it would be a good idea.

Also, I wouldn't suggest you get the 8600GT cuz its barely an upgrade, if one at all from your current 7600GT. Have a look at this chart, it gives you an idea of how each cards compare to each other, but mostly its helpful for when you want to upgrade, they suggest u go at least 3 ranks higher otherwise its not worth it.

The reason i went for 8600 gts because its more up to date then myn, and it supports dx10. Cheap too. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...981&CatId=2669 would be good but its pricey, it'd take selling this monitor and depending on how much id get for my old motherboard. But getting a new cpu would be easier. I could try to sell my monitor for this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115030.

GPU: Get a ATI 3850 / 8800GT 256MB.
CPU. Keep the same at the moment, wait until Jan 08 for 45nm
MB: P31 is fine, but I personally prefer P35 chipset

Does the p31 support the 45 nm? Or would I have to get a p35 to use the new 45nm?
Also I haven't seen any 256 8800's. And the 8800gt's are pci-e 2.0's
