Windows XP loading stops and load, is this normal?

Everytime I start up the computer, the bar on the bottom of Windows XP loading screen stops and loads, then stops and keeps loading to the screen. Could that lead to some problem im having with the pc or the XP software? Im just concerned because I usually don't see that happen on other computers. My computer is a HP pavilion a1230n with AMD 64 athlon, 1GB of RAM, runnig 2.4GHZ with a 200gb harddrive. But when I get to my desktop it runs smooth. It even starts fast towards the desktop. What im worried about is if the xp laoding screen could stop and freeze one time and I wouldn't want that to happen to me.
What can I do to fix whatever is going on with my computer?
