Provided you are certain your Hub has a built-in firewall and/or you have another Firewall program, then yes, you will be fine with turning the Windows version off. I trust you know how to do so? Please note that you'll receive a warning and maybe a pop-up notification after you turn it off, but just confirm and you'll be set.

With the right setup/systems in place, using a 3rd party (McAfee for instance) and/or a built-in hardware unit such as a Hub are more capable. Granted it's not the case with all systems, so YMMV.

What brand of Hub do you have? What kind of AV program do you use? Provided one (or both) of them has a decent firewall installed, you'll be fine.
BTW - thank you for making excellent single malt ![]()
