Here's the updated computer, what do you think about the changes - I'd use the smaller hard drive for the bootable disk. I need to add a floppy and possibly remove the zalman since I'm not overclocking (at least not right away).

I'd like to make sure everything I'm buying will be compatible and relatively simple to assemble and startup. I'll be loading windows vista. This is my first build and I'm a little nervous about plunking down the cash and having things go haywire on me. I'm buying everything from newegg in case I do need to RMA something - they seem to have a good return policy. So can anyone give me the thumbs up or down onthis build and make any final recommendations before I blow my grocery money? Thanks again.

Now from what I'm reading, not sure the ABIT IP35 Pro is the way to go, though the specs look good and reviews have a high percentage that are good... what are some similar boards that have lots of features and potential for future overclocking if I should choose...

I would suggest getting a Serial ATA drive interface for your optical drive rather than an IDE interface because of the faster transport and speed. They cost about the same and your motherboard supports it.

now for mobo questions, I really liked http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...9&Tpk=p35-ds3l P35-DS3L but newegg is out of stock and it doesn't look like they'll have it anytime soon. my original choice was: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813127030 abit ip35 pro but now i'm thinking of: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131025 asus p5wdh deluxe wifi i'm a little nervous about all the abit negative reviews... would i be better off with the asus? |

Asus is picky about RAM. I would NOT go with them. Go with the P31-DS3L. I got mine today. Not only are the specs wrong about memory speed, but it's awesome. Oh, and they advertised DDR2-800. Really supports DDR2-1066 (a plus
)
