Default SCSI daisy chain or seperate SCSI connections to controller?

I've got internal SCSI CDROM, CDRW, and HDD with Adaptec AHA 2940U2W SCSI card which has 2, wide, 68-pin connections and one 50-pin connection. My devices are all wide, 68-pin.

My question(s) is/are: Should I connect HDD, CDROM, and CDRW to a 68-pin daisy chain connecting to only one of the 68-pin connectors on the SCSI card, or should I connect 2 devices to one connector, and another device to the other connector on the SCSI card using a seperate cable? Is there an advantage one way or the other? Which devices should connect to which cable, and in what order for optimal performance?

Thank you!

If the max. rated speed is per chain, then is the speed cut in half if an additional cable connection is used?

So, is it best to put them all on one chain, or should I connect them using seperate cables? Does it matter?

Anyone have an answer for me?

I'm just going to hook them all up up to one cable then.

Need to purchase the correct cable.
