Well you obviously didn't read the disclaimer

Also, it's not that SLI is useless, it definitely increases performance, it's just not worth it (imo).

Unless you have a uber ton of cash to waste, SLI is not worth the money for the increase in performance.

Yeah, I'm 16, do you have a problem with it? What really pisses me off is when people underestimate me, based upon my age. I apparently know more about computers than you (no offense) so if I were you, I'd take my advice.

As for SLI and my opinion on it, I think you'll find that most people here, even the "older more experienced people" will agree with me.

I'm out.

so even if i went with an 8800gt(which can be had for under $300) or somethin similar would it even be worth while goin after a mobo with sli support even if it has 2 16x pcie slots? (most older mobos only had one true 16x slot. the other was usually x8,x4, or even 1)

$250-300 down the road isnt that much for an upgrade. maybe not on a paper boys salary but i could certainly afford to do it. according to toms website it would be about a 32% increase in performance. i think that would be well worth $250.

let me know what you think. if anyone is using sli on a recent build let me know about your experiences with it. thanks.

Half the people on this board are under 18. If you are going to go around putting us down because we're not as old as you, or are going to keep making comments like the ones your making, maybe you should ask your questions elsewhere.

As for the GPU question: IMO I don't think, nor have ever heard someone say SLI is like having twice, or even near twice the quality and performance. If you are not planning on doing some extreme gaming (i.e. Crysis maxed out with DX10), or not even running at full resolution, I think an 8800GT would be great. No need for 8800GTX, Ultra, or anything in SLI.
