Default Swapping CPU Question

So im building a computer for christmas designed around the new Yorkfields coming out in Jan. however i read that they were going to be delayed a few weeks and that kind of set me back. The computer I'm running now is a P4 (>.<) LGA 775 socket and the mobo that i bought is the ASUS P5E x38. However i want to put this thing together before i go back to school and was wondering if i could just swap my P4 CPU into the new machine im buying until i can get my hands on my Q9450. The Mobo says it supports it but i just want to make sure before i build this whole rig and take apart my old one, for it not to support it and be without a comp for a couple weeks.

Thanks, Cupcakke.

X38's support it natively, so you're fine You have the one out of 3 motherboards that support it
