Get a Debian/Slackware based distro. Or just download Fedora/Suse |

To help you with your decision, I tried (and failed
) to get a few pages that describe the benefits of each distro in comparison: -

.. I do agree though that if your a Linux newb then Mandrake is awesome for a newcomer but I do believe that Suse is that much better.I've always used Mandrake but have not used Linux in a couple of years. A couple of months ago I decided to try it out again and installed the Latest version of Mandrake. Once up and running it where as simple as ever yet i had problems like connecting my digital camera (finepix S5100) which I simply gave up on! I used Mandrake for a couple of weeks then thought I'd try Suse as i where already getting bored LOL. Once on my system I noticed the difference immediately! My camera worked with no hassles! also installing windows based apps was that much easier as well!. I recommend Suse first and Mandrake a very close second.

. Last I read Debian/Slackware where for Linux Pros. Did I read wrong? or was it just old information? I read this about a year and a half ago. Has it become that friendly since?Edit: I would argue with you though about staying away from Mandrake LOL. I think it's a great distro for a newcomer.
