Hey guys, i'm basically building a new computer now that I got my hands on an 8800GTS. Now my budget is only $300 for a cpu, ram, and motherboard. I've secured the ram so i have $250 for a cpu and mobo. Thats besides the point though.
I was looking at the X2 5000+ for $120, i don't really know much about intel's newer lines of Core 2's like the E4xxx and etc. I know they run at 800mhz on the FSB which sort of turns me off of them. What do you guys think? Should I push the budget to accomodate something that is worth it? I can only push about 30-40 dollars more, but i prefer not to. Thanks!

The 6400+ is a fast CPU also, and only $20 more than the 6000+.

That is true Garethman, but it is the black edition and no fan is included so you will have to buy a HSF.

Although the 6000 and 6400 are fast and all that, they are around the 180 range if i were to buy it where i want to buy it, i might as well get a C2D e6550 for that price. I was looking at the X2 5000+ because its only $120, mind you, the motherboard will be another 120 and then theres 14% tax(God damn Canada...) so i'm afraid those are far out of budget.
In terms of the E2200, it doesn't suit my fancy...low FSB of only 800mhz i believe. It doesn't seem like the best bang for the buck.

Depends on what 5000 your talking about, theres 2 89 watt models, 4 65 watt models. A Brisbane and a Black box Brisbane and a Windsor core.
