o here is my delimma.
I am building a computer right now and i want it to be for medium-high gaming and HTPC simultaneously. (basically i want the computer to do gaming but also run the tv at the same time.) So here is what i have so far. (and some stuff i plan on getting) Black Friday Sales. My case Western Digital 500gb hd sata2 AData 800mhz 2gb ram 16x dvd dual layer burner sata ECS nf650islit-a (v1.0) motherboard (probably have to upgrade in a few months) What im planning on getting Geforce 8600gt (cant afford 8800gt or gts) Intel Q6600 Some HD video card. 600w power supply So my problem comes here. Is this going to be enough to do what i want it to do. I was thinking that i will add 160gb hd for the gaming side of things and add 2 more gigs of ram. Also if i add another video card, like a cheaper pci one could i just use that solely for the television and save the other video card for gaming and my personal use. Or should i just build another cheap computer solely for the htpc. Im not rich at all. I actually make 6.25 an hour so its pretty sad. wrong hobby i guess lool. |

ill probably end up spending about 250-270 on the q6600
and about 70-105 on the geforce 8600 50 dollars on the tv tuner (not sure if im going hd or not) 50 dollars on power supply (unless frend can pick one up) so about 450 on the computer stuff thats all i really "want" to spend. |

Get an HD3850 then, it will be much faster than the 8600GT for around ~$50 more

A Quad-core is more than enough for today's multitasking, what you would really need for all that TV stuff and the Gaming is the video card.
